Our Last Week in Texas

The last week the kids and I were in Texas...we had a BLAST!!!! I now had a car again after months of not having one due to switching to a one car family (who's crappy idea was THAT!?).

Thursday we went to the Guadalupe River with a good friend of mine and her two kids. I am not much of a sunscreen fan and after being out for only a couple hours, I was burnt to the crisp.  The kids on the other hand got a really nice tan. Lucky!

Saturday morning we were invited over for breakfast at our "adopted" grandparents house...Grandma Katie and Grampa Gene. They are the sweetest couple! When we first moved to Texas, they were life savers to us. She was the Relief Society president and let us do our laundry at their house many times. They babysat the kids so we could go to the temple. Made us breakfast/lunches/dinners. Most of all, they just loved us. I really felt like a part of their family. They were really hard to say goodbye to.

After church on Sunday we drove to Rebecca and Mac Evans to give them a few things and to say goodbye. We couldn't stay long because their oldest son was feeling super sick, but I'm glad that we were able to see them "once last time". They had JUST had a brand new baby and I am heartbroken that I didn't get to experience any of the new baby fun with them. The Evans lived in Georgia, so that is how we know them. Luckily for us, a few months after we left GA, so did they. :-D We lived an hour away from each other and would get together about once a month or so.

We then met up with "Uncle" Harvey. Harvey is a very dear friend of ours who we have been honored to get to know. Our life is better for knowing Harvey.

Monday we drove to Corpus Christi to go to the ocean and to visit with a friend of mine from St. David Arizona (Annette). We hadn't seen each other since last June so it was fun to see her again. We spent a few hours at the beach (of course!) and then headed to her house for pizza. Originally we were going to just head home after the beach but I am really glad that I decided to stay the night. More time with Annette!!

Tuesday we got home around lunch time (it's about a 3 hour drive to Corpus Christi). That evening we were invited to dinner at Bonnie's house. We had pizza again. :) After dinner we went to their park at the apartment complex and let the kids play for awhile.

Wednesday was our lucky day. In New Braunfels there was a Children's Museum and we had never gone, but that day entry was FREE for kids so we took full advantage of that. We were there from 10:30 til 3. That evening we went to the Comish's house (Sara/James and their three kids) for dinner.

Thursday was spent just packing the car and cleaning the house. Harvey just happened to be driving through on his way home from Houston and stopped by the house for a couple hours. That night another good friend of mine came over and she helped me deep clean the house. I kind of wish we didn't worry about it then because we didn't get our deposit back anyways. Either way, it was still fun spending some extra time with her before we had to head out the next day.

The last week of being in Texas couldn't have been better. We lived it UP each and every single day. It wasn't so fun sleeping on the floor but we made do. :)
