HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I just love the start of a new year. 2014 is going to be the best year yet!

Kyra had her 4th birthday on Friday January 3rd, and we kept it pretty simple. We opened up her gift in the morning, a kitchen play set that took me 2 hours to set up...(so many parts and pieces). We went to the park and Justin surprised us by being able to get off work early and joined us. He also surprised us with pizza, so that was fun! We didn't stay too long because it was pretty cold.
We had a birthday cake which I'm surprised that the kids didn't really like. Who doesn't like chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and fun sprinkles on it!?!

Max and I took a much needed 4 day trip to see one of my best friends, Breeana, in Tennesse. For years we have talked about visiting each other at each others houses, and it's never happened. About a week before I left, I was like, "I'm just going to DO IT instead of always talking about it!" And thanks to Justin's support, the plane ticket was booked. Max and I left the morning after Kyra's birthday, at 4:30 am... flight left at 6:30. At first I was like, "What the heck was I thinking leaving so early?!" but it was perfect because Max slept both flights!

I thoroughly enjoyed the airport experience. I loved the time that I had with just Max, strolling around during our layover. I felt like I was on a little babymoon (honeymoon but with a baby ;D). On the flight from Houston to Nashville, I sat next to a guy and we talked the whole 2 hours. I had never done that before! Our conversation was SO FUN. It was fun forming him (F-family, O-organization (job), R-recreation and M-message) and asking him all sorts of questions. When you learn how to ask questions, you can get ANY body to talk with you. It's a fun skill I have been learning since going to First Steps To Success/Dynasty. James is 35 years old, married a lady who is 10 years older, had been together for 7 years before finally getting married, they have 3 kids from her previous marriage, and his grandson, who is 3, who just lights up his world. He travels to China often for his job, and travels to many places around the world. He's very adventurous...loves to ski. He is a totally Emerald/Ruby (personality types). He's very much like Justin when it comes to how he likes things organized and in their specific places. When I asked him how he loads the dishwasher, I was literally laughing out loud. It was so "efficient" and everything was in the correct order (of course all the dishes were first rinsed off). When I load the dishwasher, what's the point of rincing the dishes!? Isn't that what the dishwasher's JOB is?? haha I'm glad we sat next to each other. Made the 2 hour flight seem like half an hour.

Spending 4 days with Breeana was DIVINE and did my heart and soul so good. When we first got to her place, we just watched What Not To Wear for a little while and relaxed. It was perfect, since I was super tired and wanted to rest after having been up since 4 am. On Sunday we went to church and I just have to say that Breeana played the organ after a year of not playing. She did great!!! After church, we played Monopoly Deal (best card game ever!!! It's $5 or so at Walmart/Target. Go get it!!). She made enchiladas for dinner with homemade tortillas! Monday Breeana's work was cancelled due to the zero degree weather. What a huge tender mercy! If she had to go into work, I'd have babysat her kids for her, but I'm glad we were able to spend more time together. :) I loved just sitting around and talking! We don't have to have anything special planned, and we'd still have a blast. I love that we don't feel like we have to entertain each other. Monday night we braved the freezing weather and went out to eat at a Chinese restaurant. The food was great!! But not quite sure if braving the cold was worth it... Didn't help that the van's heater that Breeana was borrowing didn't work... (she got into a car accident a couple weeks ago). When we got home, she and I stayed up a little bit talking and then headed to bed. She had to work in the morning and had her babysitter take me to the airport. Remember the non heated van??? It was a LONG hour drive with no heat. I couldn't feel my feet by the time we got to the airport.

Again, it did my soul so good to visit with Breeana for a few days, and I am thankful for Justin watching Kyra and Ethan so that I could go.

On Monday, Breeana did my makeup and hair and I felt like a million bucks! Fun to be all dolled up.
